I must admit, I was surprised when this book arrived in the mail. That isn't to say I didn't know it was COMING; I just didn't expect it to show up in an ENVELOPE. I expected a box. Okay, so now ya know; this isn't a "War and Peace" kinda tome. It's small. Like less than twenty pages small.But ya know what? Good is good. A book doesn't HAVE to be massive to be enjoyable. If you want a book big and heavy enough to kill a mouse, grab "War and Peace." If you want a pleasant fast-reading collection of poems that'll make you smile, and if you enjoy the way the perfect string of words can get to the heart of a matter and touch YOUR heart, this is the book for you. As an added bonus, the bright illustrations throughout the book are downright delightful, too.
You know another nice thing about a book this small? You can read it again. And again. And again. It'd also make a thoughtful gift for the poetry lovers in your life. The big uns, and the ... yep, small fries, too.

A colorful and clever collection of painting and poetry! I really enjoyed the inviting tone of Robyn Engel's poetry coupled with Robin Mead's intriguing artwork- a truly wonderful match. I would recommend this beautiful collection to anyone of any age.
As soon as I got this book, I started reading. It's a good book of poetry. It would make someone a really great gift. The illustrations are nice and full of color and compliment the poems.
The poetry in the book is Robyn's pure magic and the art makes it all come alive. I can't rave on more about how fresh and fun this was to read. It's a book I pick up and re-read. I am giving it as a gift to my mother as well. Bravo, ladies! All I could say when I was done with the book was "I want more!"
It's the Bob Newhart of poetry, in its subtle humor. Paintings of robins run through it, and it was written and illustrated by Robyn and Robin... coincidence? Probably not. The art is beautiful and touching. The poetry is simple yet deep. It's nostalgic and funny. I loved it.

Engel's poetry is humorous, inspiring, nostalgic and whimsical. Mead's art is magical and reminds me of a cross between batik and stained glass. Brilliant images grace every page. The poetic themes are fun to read to yourself or aloud to someone else so you can laugh and sigh together. The colors and textures of the art invite your eyes to look closer. This would be a precious gift for anyone. I bought it for myself.

I originally bought this book because the illustrator, Robin Mead, is one of my favorite artists. Her art work is a collection of refreshing whimsy that always brightens my mood. As it turns out, the poetry is equally enjoyable. I find the poetry to be light yet insightful, fun yet thought provoking. This collection of visual and written art is a happy edition to my bedside reading. I have even read it to my 8 year old at bedtime and he loves it!
